Work Packages
The HPV-FASTER project is structured into 19 work packages (WPs) designed to implement, evaluate, and disseminate strategies for HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening among vulnerabilised populations.
Each WP has a specific focus, ranging from stakeholder engagement and protocol development to piloting interventions and assessing outcomes. Below is a summary of each work package:
Work Package 1:
Stakeholder Map and Engagement - RHR
In this work package, we will map stakeholders at European and local levels, engage them to identify barriers and needs for HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening, and co-develop tailored strategies and protocols for pilot sites. This process will be inclusive, culturally sensitive, and aimed at sustainable, long-term impact.
Work Package 2:
Elicit Women's Preferences Before HPV FASTER Intervention – Inserm B
This work package aims to use a Discrete Choice Experiment (DCE) to assess women's preferences for HPV-FASTER implementation and evaluate how tailored communication messages or iconographies influence those preferences. The goal is to optimise the intervention design based on these insights.
Work Package 3:
Co-creation of eHealth Education Strategies - UBB
This work package aims to assess and enhance eHealth strategies for improving cervical cancer prevention literacy among vulnerabilised women, while ensuring ethical compliance and data protection. It focuses on developing effective, responsible digital interventions.
Work Package 4:
Barriers and Mitigation Tools for Implementing HPV FASTER - UTARTO
This work package focuses on building an evidence base for HPV-FASTER, identifying barriers, and developing mitigation tools. It includes summarising evidence on HPV screening and vaccination for vulnerabilised populations and surveying health literacy needs and eHealth implementation challenges.
Work package 5:
Develop HPV-FASTER Implementation Protocol and Operational Plan - KI
Work Package 5 focuses on developing implementation protocols and operational plans for HPV-FASTER by assessing health system capacities and creating context-specific strategies for vulnerabilised populations. Evidence-based protocols will be tailored to local contexts using questionnaires and literature reviews.
Work package 6:
Methodological framework development and data exploration - ICR
Work Package 6 focuses on developing a framework to identify and utilize data for targeting vulnerabilised populations for HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening in Europe. It includes defining target groups, mapping data sources, and identifying use cases.
Work Package 7:
Integration and Testing of E-Health Education Strategies - UBB
Work Package 7 focuses on developing an eHealth platform to enhance HPV literacy and cervical cancer prevention for vulnerabilised women. The platform will include educational content, assessments, and resource locators, refined through pilot testing.
Work package 8:
Piloting the HPV FASTER strategy among migrant women and sex workers in Sweden and Spain – ICO/KI
Work Package 8 pilots the HPV-FASTER strategy among migrant women and sex workers in Sweden and Spain to assess feasibility and sustainability. It includes securing approvals, implementing interventions, and evaluating impact using tailored methods.
Work package 9:
Piloting the HPV FASTER strategy among women living in deprived areas in France – Inserm A/CHUD
Work Package 9 pilots the HPV-FASTER strategy among women in deprived areas in France, assessing feasibility, data availability, and intervention impact. It includes contextual adaptations, data bias analysis, and modeling health-seeking behaviors.
Work Package 10:
Piloting the HPV FASTER Strategy for Women Living with HIV and Transgender Men in Denmark - RHR
Work Package 10 pilots the HPV-FASTER strategy for women with HIV and transgender men in Denmark, focusing on feasibility and impact. It includes securing approvals, implementing the intervention, and evaluating the benefits of combined HPV vaccination and screening.
Work Package 11:
Piloting of HPV FASTER Strategy Among Imprisoned Women in Romania - UMFIH
Work Package 11 pilots the HPV-FASTER strategy among imprisoned women in Romania to evaluate feasibility and impact. It involves obtaining approvals and implementing the pilot study.
Work package 12:
Mixed methodology studies for evaluating piloted strategies among migrants and sex workers - IARC
Work Package 12 uses mixed methods to evaluate HPV-FASTER pilot strategies among migrants and sex workers, focusing on RE-AIM outcomes. It assesses long-term effectiveness, costs, and scalability.
Work Package 13:
Mixed-Method Studies to Assess Strategies and Outcomes for HIV-Positive and Socioeconomically Deprived Women - LSHTM
Work Package 13 assesses HPV-FASTER pilot strategies among HIV-positive, transgender, and socioeconomically deprived women using mixed methods and RE-AIM outcomes. It evaluates long-term effectiveness, costs, and scalability based on pilot findings.
Work Package 14:
Communication and Dissemination Plan and Tools - EIWH
Work Package 14 creates communication tools and strategies for HPV-FASTER, including a website and logo. It targets outreach to healthcare professionals to support cervical cancer prevention in vulnerabilised groups.
Work package 15:
Communication and Dissemination, Training modules, Health Literacy tools and Outreach – EIWH
Work Package 15 enhances health literacy through infographics, policy briefs, and training modules targeting vulnerabilised women, policymakers, and healthcare professionals. It includes outreach activities and a training module on HPV and cervical cancer prevention.
Work package 16:
Communication and Dissemination, Recommendations on implementation – EIWH
Work Package 16 disseminates HPV-FASTER findings through a final report, training modules, and HPV World articles for healthcare professionals and policymakers. It also develops a framework for ongoing stakeholder engagement to promote equitable HPV vaccination and screening access.
Work package 17-19:
Project Management and Coordination 1 – Inserm A
Work Package 17 ensures effective management and coordination of the HPV-FASTER-Implementation project, including strategic steering, administrative support, and periodic reporting. It also develops a comprehensive data management plan aligned with GDPR.
